You are here

The Erasmus Student Network is the biggest European student organisation: they are active in 40 countries and have more than 500 local branches, including ESN VUB EhB Brussels. Our local division has been an important partner of the university in welcoming international students for years now. They strive to make international students feel at home in the local student life by organising lots of pleasant encounters.  If you do not know them yet, we will try to explain here why you should. If you know them already, you might consider becoming a buddy. Note: they are open to all students, they are not an exclusive Erasmus+ club.

ESN VUB-EhB Brussels takes care of you and your spare time as an international student. Over the next few months ESN VUB EhB Brussels schedules many fun activities to discover Brussels and Europe. This small glimpse of that list gives you an idea of what ESN is all about.

On 1st March at 8 pm one of the regular Happy Hours takes place, this time in The Big Game. The week after a genuine pub crawl will allow you to discover more great places. You can purchase tickets for these events every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch in the restaurant.  On 22nd March a ‘Special’ Karaoke night will make you feel very special and on the 25th there will be a role play game in the Parlementarium.

Every last Monday of the month it is games night at the RITCS café. On 18th April an international dinner is planned at Loungebar 1050. If you really want to learn something essential about Belgium you should not miss the beer tasting evening organised in collaboration with the VUB ‘Beer Culture Association’ on 25th of April. Other activities, dates, and venues will be announced on ESN’s Facebook page.

More than 100 members are waiting to meet you. Apart from abovementioned evening activities, ESN organises many city trips at very cheap prices: €14 or only €11 if you are a member. The next one will take you to Antwerp, Flanders’ unofficial capital. Later in this semester a surprise trip of two days will take place, which is being planned at the moment.

A membership card costs €10, but offers lots of advantages for the travelling student: discounts on airline companies, international bus lines, hostels all over the world, coffee to go, short stay student homes … . The whole list can be consulted at the ESN-Brussels website.

Would you like to do something in return?

If you are a local student or an international student already well acquainted with Brussels, you might consider becoming an active member or a buddy. Buddy volunteers are needed every semester to welcome the new incoming international students. If you want to know more about this, just join one of the happy hours or send an email to And have fun!
